2025 Season Details

General League Structure

    • Dates – Sundays, September 7-October 5, 2025
    • Times – Double Header each Sunday (10am/11:30am, 2pm/3:30pm)
    • Divisions – 3 Divisions: 5th/6th/7th Grades

The Fall Youth League provides players 5th-7th grade the opportunity to extend the season, develop skills, increase game experience.

Our Fall Youth League is 5 weeks. Each team will play 2 short games (double headers) each Sunday. The purpose of two short games is to give the players a sense of urgency and more opportunities for clutch situations to play into.

Our goal with the Silver Sluggers Academy Fall League is to provide a productive venue for improving baseball skills, game experience, and a high level of competition for players. These games are intended for the players to gain on the field experience, manage pressure, teamwork, failure, and success while learning more about competing at a high level on the baseball field.

This league is not about winning at all costs, but it is about letting the players earn their success on the baseball field. We will attempt to provide an environment to help players learn from failures and teach them to work hard to turn failures into successes. Our goal at Silver Sluggers is to develop players as athletes, teammates, students, and productive young adults through learning more about managing the natural adversity presented in baseball games.

Players must treat umpires and coaches with respect and maturity, and the same is expected of coaches to players and umpires. Coaches must set a good example for their players, treating umpires, players, and other coaches with respect. There is no tolerance for coaches and players exhibiting behavior that is not a good example for their peers and young adults.

Our philosophy is that if young players are held to high standards and treated with respect and responsibility, they will reciprocate that to their coaches and umpires.

Our goals for this league is for all players to improve their skills and gain much needed game speed experience. Our challenge to our players is to actively prepare to improve 2-3 aspects of your mechanics, game strategy, or ability to process information in games.

  • Evaluate and Improve: Players must actively see what the game is telling them. Each game is like taking a test, and it is telling players what they need to improve. Each week is a retest that players should expect to get a better grade through hard work on what they learned the previous week. Use this information to improve your skills this fall.
  • Embrace Challenges: Embrace the challenges of managing the adversity created in competition.
  • Get out of Comfort Zone: Challenge yourself to learn other positions, or develop more versatility in your game. Bunting, stealing bases, learning a new pitch, playing a different position.
  • Have Fun:  Enjoy the time with your teammates, coaches, umpires, and family

A couple of quick rules that go along with our league philosophy::

  • Never argue with umpires!! This includes coaches, players, and parents. This is not tolerated in our fall league
  • Be a great teammate at all times. Find a way to make your teammates better. They will return the favor to you.

See below for our tentative timeline of events for our fall leagues –

*If we are rained out once, make up date is October 12.  If we have more than one rain out, we will not make up additional games.

Games will be played under USSSA Baseball Rules, with the following exceptions:

  1. Innings: Each game is 5 innings.
  2. Time Limit: No full inning can start after 1:20. Second game of each double header will start 15 minutes after the first. Games must be played to either the time limit or 5 innings. Any team that stops the game short of the time limit or 5 innings due to any reason other than a weather delay (or other unforeseen circumstance) will forfeit the game.
  3. Pitcher Inning Limit: Pitchers may only pitch 4 innings per week.
  4. Extra Hitter Rule: Teams must use 10 hitters in the lineup at all times, but may at the team discretion hit every player on the roster.
  5. Substitutions: Teams may use defensive substitutions freely. Players may re-enter the game at any time.
  6. Home vs. Away: In each double header, the designated home team on the schedule will be the home team in the first game, then visitors in the second game.
  7. Courtesy Runners: Courtesy Runner may be used for the Pitcher or Catcher with 2 outs in the inning. A bench player may be used, or the last player to hit and not reach base may be used for the pinch runner.
  8. Mutually Agreed Upon Rule Changes – Coaches and umpires can agree to flex the rules to fit the moment in the spirit of player health and development.

Youth League Locations (Tentative)

  • Waunakee
  • Sun Prairie
  • Verona
  • McFarland
  • Sauk Prairie
  • Fort Atkinson

**More locations to be added if necessary

Field addresses and locations will be listed on the Playbook Sports App, Team Pages with the schedule.

Each team will have 10 scheduled regular season games. We have room in the schedule for one make up week at the end of the season. If more than one weekend is rained out, we will likely not make up any games past weekend number 6 (rain makeup weekend) which could shorten the season to 8 total games, or 4 Sundays of baseball.

League Game Schedule Timeline

  1. League schedule for Weeks 1-3 will be posted 7-10 days before the season start date.  Schedule will be posted on the Playbook Sports App Platform and Silver Sluggers website.
  2. Weeks 4-5 will be posted after the second week of games.
  3. Week 6 is our matchup weekend and will be posted immediately after week 5 or before. We want to create the best matchups for week 6 based upon league standings and records.

Game Times:

Our prospective game times each week are (All Double Headers) either 10am/11:30am or 2pm/3:30pm double headers each Sunday.

Travel Schedule:

We try to minimize extensive travel for all teams during the season.  We often cannot completely avoid some longer distances, but we design the schedule to minimize travel as much as possible for each team.

Game Schedule Location:

Game Schedules are posted on the Playbook Sports App.  Please check the schedule for your games prior to going to the games every week. We will not change the games and locations often. Just in case you missed an email or notification, the online schedule should be the latest version of the schedule for your team.

The league will provide each team –

  • Game baseballs for season
  • Team shirt

Player equipment needed –

  • Players must wear their team shirt for games*
  • Grey or white baseball pants (team can decide how to coordinate)
  • Cap their choosing (preferably High School Team Cap or similar).

Players should bring a glove, bat, helmet, or any other personal equipment with which they may feel comfortable. Most importantly…bring a good attitude and be ready to learn every week. The quickest way to improve your game is to learn and practice as much as possible.

*If a team has a specific uniform for all of the players, the team can wear their team uniform as long as all players have access to wear the uniform.

Our league is relaxed so if you do not all have the same color pants and hats, we are perfectly fine with it.

Registered Full TeamsThere is no minimum or maximum roster number.  Full teams can manage their own roster throughout the season.  However, all players that play in games during the season must be officially on the roster and have signed the league waiver.

All players must be invited and accepted on Roster to participate in the league.

Team Managers/Coaches can invite players to your team roster from the Playbook Sports app or online platform.  Coaches and Team Managers, on your team page on the app or online, the roster page will have an option to invite players to the team.  Upon invitation, the individual players must accept the invite and sign waiver to participate in the league.  Only “Accepted” players can participate.  If your player has not accepted the invite, it will show as “Pending”.

Free Agent Teams – The league administrators will manage rosters for free agent teams.  Our goal is to have 12-13 players on each team.

Rosters can be found on the Playbook Sports App or online (with your login)

Players and families must download the Playbook Sports App to view rosters, schedules, and receive notifications from the fall league.

  • 5th grade – 50/70
  • 6th grade – 50/70
  • 7th grade – 54/80 or 60/90*

** 7th grade division will either play 54/80 or 60/90, depending on the field. If both distances are available, we prefer 54/80 but both coaches can discuss and agree to move to 60/90.

Any USA or USSSA certified bat is accepted in this league. No size restrictions.

Team Selection

After the registration deadline, the league will create all free agent teams from the Free Agent Player registrations. We accommodate requests for teammates as much as possible.  We also try to group players based upon age, skill level, and hometown to minimize travel for players in the league.

Volunteer Coaches

Silver Sluggers does not provide coaches for this league.  Coaches are parents that volunteer to coach the team.

Most of you will hear from your coach (on Playbook) before your first game…but if you do not, no worries. Your team shirts will be at the field for your first game. Just be ready at the field one hour before your first game of the double header (unless otherwise instructed by your coach).

Our league is fortunate to have quality fields for our games.  We must maintain the fields carefully after our games each weekend. Please take extra care to rake home plate and mound areas after each game or set of double headers, and especially at the end of the day. Coaches and players from both teams must participate in the field maintenance and must complete the following.

Sluggers Fall League Field Maintenance Policy

The winning team of each game is responsible to update the final score of each game on the Playbook Sports App.

More details and instructions to come.

In the case of rain delays or cancellations, we will post updated weather cancellation information on the home page of the League Website. We will also post updates often on Twitter at https://twitter.com/SilverSluggers

Immediately prior to or during games (once the teams get to the field), the weather cancellation decisions will be made by the umpires and coaches on the field in conjunction with the field crew or manager.
